fall beneath the city
lights pushing onward
feel the motion of feet moving forward
become a part of the crowd
assimilate,
oh system!
high up on the shoulders of many,
remember not that they exist
but that without them you would not.
we all wish to be seen, heard, and discovered
growing out of cracks in the ground
so desperate to be seen
to be felt,
lost in a mass of followers
break free and spread those mythical wings
outstretched arms reaching so high
as though they could rub out the sun
how can this be true?
how can a life so burdened become something more
speak up, don't sucumb to all that they wish you to be
speak true, your word is all you've got
oh the fall comes in winter,
and winter seeps into summer
and the sun shall burn away in the darkness

crawling at such a slow pace
the world is leaving us behind
there's no way to catch up
but if we settle now
we'll be settling for less than what we deserve
i can see that this is going no where fast
there's too many words running through my head

and its getting run down
drowned out by all these complaints
